Letterpress and Text

Letterpress.

Twenty years ago I bought a few different founts of lead letterpress from a printer selling up in Dandenong. It’s hard to come by these days in Australia. Due to my interest in Literature I’ve often employed text in art but mostly it has been screen printed. More recently, in 2025, I acquired a large quantity of antique wooden type face that had been saved from an incinerator back in the 1970’s. I am now exploring in greater depth the use of text in art. The images included here include anagram works printed to raise money for the court costs of Julian Assange, some recent poster type text works and some workshop advertisements as well as other compositions.
